The Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) proudly celebrates the global academic milestone achieved by our lecturer, Ms. Nagadya Hamidah, who presented her research paper at the Journal of Education in Muslim Societies (JEMS) Writing Workshop hosted by Boğaziçi University in Istanbul, Türkiye, from December 5th to 7th, 2025.
Nagadya’s study advocates for the strategic integration of social media into university curricula to sustain formal education during humanitarian and crises, particularly in conflict-affected regions. Her research underscores the importance of aligning social media tools with pedagogical frameworks, cultural contexts, and digital literacy goals to expand access to equitable, inclusive, and resilient learning for the good of the Ummah.
Her participation followed a highly competitive global selection process, where her paper was recognized among the Top 10 out of more than 150 submissions worldwide, a testament to the quality, relevance, and impact of IUIU’s academic research output. This achievement granted her a seat among leading international scholars and peers, enabling her to refine and strengthen her manuscript through rigorous academic discourse.
The JEMS workshop provided her with expert peer reviews, editorial mentorship, and structured guidance on research methodology, ethics, academic integrity, and scholarly writing critical support that has significantly enhanced her manuscript ahead of journal submission.
Nagadya’s attendance at the workshop was fully sponsored by the International Institute of Islamic Thought (IIIT), an institutional partner committed to advancing research and intellectual development in Muslim societies. She conveyed her heartfelt appreciation for IIIT’s generous support and acknowledged IUIU’s institutional facilitation, mentorship, and logistical backing, which made her participation possible.
The final manuscript is now being prepared for submission to JEMS for formal review, reinforcing IUIU’s commitment to promoting innovative, technology-driven educational strategies in crisis-responsive learning and digital transformation.
